MELUKAT (THE VEDIC BATH RITUAL)

To Cleanse, Purify and Energy Balance For the Body, Mind & Spirit, and to
Eliminate Dasa Mala (The Ten Badness’s).
In the Melukat Ritual: Tirtha (holy water), the mantra and the sound of the high priest’s bell will channel the power of pranic energy with strong vibrations to the person. Serves to heal and harmonize the body’s energy, cleanse the chakra system within body, and to awaken spiritual consciousness.

Ritual of Melukat it’s done in the morning, when the Sun provides fresh energy and your minds are still fresh. Morning, as the beginning of life, is a holy pause in the Vedic tradition called Brahma muhurta. A span of time that could be a procession of creating and replenishing the initial energy of the universal energy force. The Melukat ritual lasts 1 – 2 hours.

COST DONATION/ PUNIA : Euro 100.
**The donation is used to fund Hindu ceremonies at the Griya, to maintain the Griya (Brahmin residence) as a holy place. Both spiritual and physical buildings.
TiIME (By appointment) : Every Purnama day (full moon); Tilem day (new moon); Kajeng Kliwon day; or Banyu Pinaruh day (the next day after Saraswati day) and others day.

RITUALS DURING MELUKAT /The Vedic Bath Ritual
- The people come to participate in the Puja, Ida Bhagaswan Panembahan Jawi prays in Sanskrit for 1-2 hours to worship water so that it becomes Tirtha or holy water, and the people do meditation.
- Devotees will be blessed and showered with Tirtha (holy water.)
- People change into dry clothes.
- The people in front of Padmasana Temple pray and give thanks to God.
In principle there are important things to do before Melukat;
during Melukat and finish Melukat. That is always praying and reciting mantras. That’s if you can. If you can’t, it’s enough to always pray in your heart so that the Melukat process can be perfect and the body can be purified.
When going to perform Melukat rituals in in Griya Agung Panembahan Jawi :
- Bring traditional offerings (Usually Griya Agung prepared all of this offerings for you)
- Bring a change of clothes.
- Bring rice, cooking oil, sugar, coffee, Rice and incense as offerings to Sulinggih (the Brahmin)
*Note : Women who are menstruating are not allowed to take part in the Melukat ritual.
DASA MALA (THE TEN BADNESSES)
Dasa Mala are ten kinds of dirty / unkind qualities, which must be avoided because of ‘Asubha (bad) Karma’ in order to avoid suffering. By performing Melukat ritual, Dasa Mala can be melted down and transformed into Divine Attributes (Daiwa Sampad).
Dasa Mala is: 1. Tandri: lazy 2. Kleda: like to procrastinate 3. Teja: dark thoughts 4. Kulina: likes to insult / hurt people 5. Kuhaka: stubborn 6. Metraya: arrogant and lying / exaggerating 7. Megata: cruel 8. Ragastri: adultery Bhaksa Bhuwana:likes to make others destitute 10. Kimburu: likes to cheat.
